I’ve been setting aside photos on my desktop with the thought of doing blog posts, and I realized this morning that I can combine two!
A clutch is defined as both “a brood of chickens” and “a woman’s small purse”. And at the moment both are a part of my life.
Neighbors of ours noticed that we had a small pile of wood outside our house, leftover from our remodel last summer. They just happen to have chickens in their backyard……so an exchange was made. Wood for a dozen of the freshest eggs you could ever have. They were all different colors and patterns and so pretty I almost didn’t want to break them. They were delicious. Here is a photo of one:

Next, I’ve been doing some sewing while baby M is napping during the day. I made five of these simple clutch purses, and added my own hand embroidery. I’ve been meaning to photograph them for my shop, but we have a houseguest this week and we’ve been gathering around the television at night. Here are some (poorly lit) photos I took this morning, just so you could see that I’ve been up to more than just baking. : )
I love this color combo – orange and green. It makes me happy. : )
Gosh I LOVE these tiny flower buttons.
I had only enough of this pink fabric to make one clutch.
Birdy clutch with the cutest vintage button ever.
And how’s this for a frugal fabric find? I bought the linen-y fabric for the outside of the purses on sale for… (can’t believe I’m typing this) … $1.00 for over a yard! It’s really nice stuff and the person who sold it just had too much and wanted to be rid of it. I lucked out with that find!
I wish you a wonderful week!
